Dit nieuwjaarsconcert voor Oekraïne nodigt ons uit om het jaar te beginnen met muziek die veerkracht, vernieuwing en de onbreekbare geest van schoonheid viert. Van de serene gratie van Bachs Aria uit de Goldbergvariaties tot de zachte stralendheid van Silvestrovs The Messenger, opent het programma met reflecties op vrede en continuïteit. De klassieke helderheid en geestigheid van Haydns Sonate in C majeur (1e deel) en de schitterende virtuositeit van Chopins Etude nr. 2 tonen elegantie, precisie en jeugdige briljantie. Het trotse heldendom van Chopins Polonaise in As majeur en de stralende verbeeldingskracht van Schumanns Abegg-variaties verheffen de geest met energie en optimisme, terwijl Skoryks lyrische wals danst met warmte en gratie. De vurige passie van de Ritual Dance of Fire van de Falla en de glinsterende elegantie van Strauss’ Künstlerleben belichamen de levendigheid van hernieuwd leven. Hedendaagse stemmen—Borys Fedorovs Confused Diffusions on a Fragment of Chopin en Andrew Blickenderfers Canal Variaties—breng de avond in het heden, waarbij echo’s van traditie worden omgevormd tot heldere visioenen van de toekomst. De internationaal geprezen pianiste Anna Fedorova, bekend om haar poëtische touch en diepe expressiviteit, treedt samen met haar vader, de vooraanstaande Oekraïense pianist Borys Fedorov, en haar moeder Tetiana Abaieva, op in een zeldzame verschijning die kunstzinnigheid en erfgoed verenigt. Op 11-jarige leeftijd maakt de rijzende ster en Davidsbündler Academist Yulianna Beziazychna al naam voor zichzelf als winnaar van talrijke internationale jeugdwedstrijden. This New Year’s Day benefit concert for Ukraine invites us to begin the year with music that celebrates resilience, renewal, and the unbreakable spirit of beauty.
